DITA (Darwin Information Typing Architecture) is an XML-based, end-to-end architecture for creating, producing, and delivering topic-oriented, information-typed content that can be reused and single-sourced in multiple ways. The architecture consists of a set of design principles for creating “information-typed” modules at a topic level and for using that content in delivery modes such as online help and product support portals on the Web. The development and promotion of DITA is led by OASIS.
OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards) is a not-for-profit consortium dedicated to driving the development, convergence and adoption of open standards for the global information community. Founded in 1993, OASIS has more than 5,000 participants representing over 600 organizations and individual members in 100 countries.
