Users benefit from WYSIWYG editing capabilities while creating and editing DITA documents in a self-contained environment on a single workstation. With an intuitive authoring environment and on-demand validation, authors with little or no XML or DITA knowledge can easily author DITA-compliant documentation. Installed locally on the end user’s computer, authors can access, edit and save DITA XML files from their local or network drive, regardless of Internet connectivity.
Desktop simplifies the process of locating, referencing and reusing content from the file system. Supporting content reuse through DITA “conref” attributes, users are able to reuse existing content located in different files. This greatly reduces the time and expense associated with redundancy and duplicate effort in content creation, while promoting consistency throughout the authoring and publishing process. Additionally, a reference to extracted content is created when portions of text are selected and integrated into a separate document.
From the convenience of their desktop, users are able to quickly and easily create and publish DITA-compliant documentation from a single source to multiple popular output formats, including; Adobe® Acrobat® PDF, Microsoft® Office Word, XHTML, HTML Help, JavaHelp™ and Eclipse™ Help. |
